Hartland Peninsular

The village of Hartland is the most north-westerly settlement in Devon. Not far away is Hartland Quay where the Shipwreck Museum is worth a visit. The Quay, commissioned in 1586, was a busy port, shipping coal, granite and farm produce, until it began to break up towards the end of the 19th century. Today nothing of the original quay remains. Current access to the sea and beach is provided by a slipway. Also worth a visit is Hartland Abbey.

Hartland Point Lighthouse is a Grade II listed building, now in private ownership, marking the western limit of the Bristol Channel with the Atlantic Ocean continuing to the west.
