The Ilfracombe Academy

We are an 11-18 church academy, part of the St Christopher’s Trust. We have nearly 1000 students on roll including a popular and expanding Sixth Form. Our students come from a wide geographical area stretching from the surfing beaches of Woolacombe across Exmoor to Lynton and the Somerset border.

The facilities of the whole school support the curriculum and the courses we offer; post 16 students also occupy their own dedicated area.

The school boasts: Extensive and well equipped specialist teaching areas, most with data projector and computers – 10 science laboratories – 9 technology workshops.

Library and study facilities, IT suites and computers, including netbooks (available for students to loan) all of which are networked across the school.

Well stocked careers library and guidance centre – Our luxurious Beacon Arts Centre – Drama theatre and dance space – A fully equipped Music Centre, comprising modern recording and music technology facilities and keyboard network

Extensive sports facilities – gymnasium, sports hall, multi-gym, playing fields, hard courts, 10 metre climbing wall and a 3G all-weather pitch

The school uses the Exmoor Centre, for residential field work and outdoor activities
